When your goal is to compete in fitness, it is easy to develop a pattern where your training is too concentrated on weight training, maybe even only a certain type of weight training. You always feel that your next competition is coming too soon and that you have to build as much muscle as possible, as fast as possible. It is often like you don't have time to prioritize other activities, and that any other form of training than the one directly linked to you next stage appearance is a waste. A one-sided focus on one particular type of training can over time reduce the joy of working out.

Different concepts promising you the «perfect body» are everywhere. They go on and on about how you will get a perfect behind and a flat belly, if you just work out and eat this way or the other. Achieving these changes in your appearance is presented as the most important reason to work out, and you are always promised how good you will feel, if only you can change your appearance towards this image of perfection. What weight training has done for me should rather be measured in mental transformation, not in physical change.

Even though I enjoy working out and usually look forward to my workouts, every now and then I feel less motivated and have to persuade myself to get through my daily session. You are often tired after a long day at work, have other duties to attend to later, or you feel tired, a little sick or in a bad mood because of something that has happened. If you were to skip your workout whenever you feel like that, you would lose countless workouts, and results would not come as fast as you would like. That is why it is so important to establish a great determination and an ability to properly organize your everyday life.

I am a seeker by nature, I am restless, always looking to fulfil new dreams and reach new goals. This means that I am always occupied with many different and demanding projects, and I find it very difficult to relax. Even when I appear to be relaxing, I can never seem to get all those thoughts out of my mind, always planning and coming up with ideas for one of the many projects I am in the middle of. I have realized there are only two ways for me to completely relax. One way is to watch a really terrifying movie, the kind that keeps me in breathless suspense to the very end.
